As with most surveyors, Bob Turner has spent a lifetime around boats and the boating community. The love affair with all things that float started at age six, watching his father lovingly apply the finishing touches on a classic mahogany runabout. Through trial (painful) and error (many) he taught himself sailing after purchasing a 14’ one design sloop with a broken wooden spar for one hundred dollars. The ensuing forty five years have been spent under intense hands on “continuing education” while employed in building and repairing glass, wooden and steel boats, sail making, stainless steel and aluminum fabrication, rigging and yacht carpentry.

       Prior to entering the marine surveying field, Bob was the owner/manager of Annapolis Harbor boat yard with 20 employees commissioning power and sailing vessels from twenty five to sixty six feet.  During this period of time Bob worked closely with some of the best marine surveyors on the East Coast, addressing deficiencies found on survey. 

       Bob has logged over twenty five thousand miles of blue water sailing and fished the canyons off the east coast, and the fertile king mackerel grounds and wrecks off the Carolinas. Though this off shore experience pales in comparison to some, it has served well to instill a deep respect for the unforgiving and demanding environment we call our “playground”.
